1Terrific ceiling if things break right
It’s been a decade since the Seahawks have gone through this much upheaval with their offensive core. Only weeks after Chris Carson was poised for another terrific season, he was lost for the year … and possibly longer. And only months after Rashaad Penny finally broke through, Seattle drafted what could be its next franchise RB. Kenneth Walker III could get every opportunity to win the starting job. As a result, his realistic ceiling is in the top 22-30 range.
2Two-down RB history lowers his floor
Walker’s floor is a bit concerning if he doesn’t win the starting job in camp, as he wasn’t an adept pass catcher in college. He would need to develop this part of his game to achieve a top-40 floor.
3Much depends on whether Chris Carson returns
Will Chris Carson contribute in 2022? Using a second-round draft pick on an RB when your longtime starter is recovering from neck surgery … well, that says a lot. The Seahawks probably won’t compete for the postseason this year, though stranger things have happened. We might assume the franchise will play it safe with Carson while giving Walker an opportunity to lock down no worse than the No. 2 job.
